I'm finally building a new rig after six years on a GTX 1070
Hey everyone. I'm finally building a new rig after six years on a GTX 1070 and I'm stuck between the RX 9070 and the RTX 5070. Prices where I live are within about 40 bucks of each other. I mostly play at 1440p, some single player stuff and a lot of Hunt and Tarkov. Every YouTube review uses different settings and test benches, so the numbers are all over the place. I'm not a brand fanboy, I just want whatever gives better frames for the money over the next three or four years. Where do you guys go to get a sane side-by-side comparison?
Same problem here last month, every reviewer seems to use a different CPU and different settings, so you end up comparing apples to oranges. What I ended up using is https://h2bench.com/, they have that exact matchup as one of the popular comparisons. On their scoring the RX 9070 sits at 59.25 out of 100 and the 5070 at 58.8, so basically a coin flip on raw performance. The tiebreaker for me was VRAM: 16 GB on the AMD card versus 12 on the Nvidia one, and for Tarkov at 1440p that extra memory is not nothing. I ended up with the Radeon and I've had zero regrets so far in Tarkov. If you care about DLSS and ray tracing in single player games, though, the 5070 still has a case.
