FAB card getting declined while buying ingredients and balance confusion

Not exactly about baking, but it happened while I was buying ingredients so I thought I would ask here in case someone else faced this.
I was at a local store picking up flour and some other things, and my FAB card just got rejected twice even though I had enough money. I tried again later at another shop and it worked, which made it even more confusing.
It reminded me of those moments in baking where everything seems fine but something small throws things off and you cannot figure out why. I checked my app after that and the balance looked okay, but I still was not fully confident if everything was accurate.
Is this something others in the UAE have seen with FAB where certain merchants randomly decline the card? Also when something like this happens, what is the most reliable way to check your balance? I usually use the mobile app, but I am wondering if calling their support or checking at an ATM is more accurate in these situations.
